Alberto Amura, a Taos resident, has a multifaceted skills and professional background that includes education, sciences, art, and metaphysics. Originally from Argentina, his interest in the fine arts started early in his life through the tutoring of his Italian father who taught him drawing and oil painting. He studied art at the Buenos Aires Academy of Art and at the Instituto Zartco Shimat in Argentina. He taught decoupage and gilding techniques at Glendale College in Los Angeles, CA, and at various private art & crafts academies. His chosen medium is watercolor which he uses in an unconventional way with thick layers of surface color mixing, detailed dry brush applications, and flat-wash techniques. His palette is an essential mixture of warm colors where red and orange hues are dominant. Alberto is an active member of the Taos Society of Watercolorists.
